WELCOME TO THE PAULY LABORATORY
AT THE PHILIPPS-UNIVERSITY MARBURG

We are a research team focusing on the role of the complement system in ocular diseases

– a true “compliment to the eye".

The complement system is part of the innate immune response and plays a pivotal role in the development and progression of many ocular diseases. We thrive to investigate its involvement in the homeostasis of epithelial cells in age related macular degeneration (AMD).

In many multifactorial diseases, too many factors are studied in isolation, causing us to miss crucial interactions. That’s why we strive to understand the complement system in the broader context of retinal function. It’s a complex approach, but only by capturing the full interplay of processes can we develop new therapeutic strategies in the long run.

We are part of the Philipps-University of Marburg and are located at the UKGM Marburg.
